Graham Dorrans managed just one Scottish Premiership game in his final two seasons at Ibrox before Steven Gerrard got rid.
Joe Dodoo is not the only Rangers flop who is rebuilding his reputation game-by-game away from Ibrox.
While the former Leicester City winger has been reborn at Bolton Wanderers, showing the kind of raw potential that convinced the Gers to take a punt on him three years ago, Graham Dorrans is also benefiting immensely from a new lease of life given to him by his belated escape from the infamous Rangers ‘bomb squad’.
A former £1.3 million midfielder who made just one Scottish Premiership appearance in his final two years at Ibrox, Dorrans has looked fresh and injury free since dropping down a division.
And Rangers’ loss, if you can call it that with Steven Gerrard’s side thriving at home and on the continent, is most certainly Dundee’s gain. With four assists in seven games, including two against Morton last time out, the 32-year-old has been reborn at Dens Park.

“He is a standout performer in the Championship and he would be the same in the Premiership too,” he told The Courier ahead of Dundee’s derby clash with Dundee United.
“He is 32 now but he still has so much to offer. He is fit and is getting fitter so I can only see him getting better.
“He is a top, top player. He sees passes and cuts defences open like other people can’t do.”
It is two months now since Dorrans had his contract at Rangers terminated and a parting of the ways appears to have come at the right time for both parties.
The regret for Rangers, however, is that they never got to see the best of a player who had the natural ability to become one of the most influential footballers in all of Scotland. Oh well, it’s not as if Gerrard is short of top quality midfielders these days anyway.
