Thomas Frank spoke highly about Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah for the role they played in their side’s thumping 6-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road on Monday night.
The Brentford boss stated that Trent Alexander-Arnold made a ‘fantastic’ run, then assist, to provide Cody Gakpo with the opener, before Mohamed Salah showcased some ‘classic top-quality’ finishes to net a brace on the night.
This is a rare sight for Liverpool supporters and Jurgen Klopp to witness because they haven’t put in such performances on the road this season.

So, whilst Leeds shipped five at home last time out to Crystal Palace, and now six, this is still a huge boost for the Reds in their quest to secure Champions League football.
If they are to get there, then key players, such as Alexander-Arnold and Salah, need to be in this sort of form, well, they certainly were in Yorkshire and it impressed Thomas Frank, as he told Premier League Productions (17/04/23 at 10:10 pm).
On Trent’s role for the opening goal: “I think it was one of those half transitions that they do so well when they are on top of their game,” said Frank.
“I think it’s a fantastic run from Trent. It’s a good ball on the outside. A low ball, and then Gakpo finishes that.”
On Salah: “I think there were two great goals from Salah. The first one is a great finish. He (Jota) doesn’t set him up perfectly, but in the end, it’s perfect for his left foot where he can bend it around the keeper. I think it’s a classic top-quality finish from Salah.
“Again, we see one of the classic counter-attacks here – the pace and the runs going forward. I think they are playing five versus four now. This ball in from Robertson is fantastic. Gakpo’s ball composure to Salah, then a great finish. That’s a top, top goal.”

LIVERPOOL’S BEST AWAY PERFORMANCE
Liverpool expected a win, but perhaps not in the manner that they delivered because that was devastating of the highest order.
They are nine points outside of the top four and there is an outside chance they can secure that final Champions League spot.
Even if it’s still unlikely, this latest win, certainly provides fans with that extra hope.
