Matty Cash has claimed that he ‘doesn’t like’ facing Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey in training, as he told Sky Sports.
Villa’s summer signing, making his home debut on Saturday evening, announced himself to his new fans in some style during his side’s 3-0 win against Everton.
Dean Smith introduced the 24-ye`ar-old in the second half when the score was goalless, as he changed the course of the game.
Cash opened the scoring when a well-worked move resulted in his left-footed shot finding the top bins, before Bailey’s corner was too hot to handle for Lucas Digne, who headed into his own net after 69 minutes.
Then Bailey took it to another level six minutes later because, after Danny Ings’ outrageous assist, the Jamaica international burst through on goal and seemingly strapped a cannon to his boot by making it 3-0 with his thunderbolt of an effort.
Cash lauded his new teammates and how it’s a ‘pleasure’ playing with him, but it’s a different story in training.
“It’s a pleasure to be playing with these players,” said Cash. “Leon’s such a top-quality player, as you have seen.
“To be fair, it doesn’t surprise me because he does it every day in training. He’s so sharp.
“When he is up against me in training, I don’t like it. A really good day for him as well.”
It was some home debut for Bailey because he assisted, scored, got booked then had to go off because he felt his muscles tightening.
The correct call was made for him to get substituted because it seems as though he is fine and it is just a case of being cautious.
But if that’s a glimpse of what Villa fans are going to see from him then he is going to tear a number of defences apart this season.
There are two away games for Villa coming up – starting with another trip to Stamford Bridge, this time in the League Cup and then a clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
A great chance for Bailey to start both games, or at the very least, one of them.
