Bruno Fernandes has labelled Martin Dubravka as a ‘top professional’ on his Instagram story after Newcastle United recalled the goalkeeper from his loan spell at Manchester United.

The 33-year-old was snapped by Erik ten Hag in September for the season, with the view of Manchester United securing a permanent transfer in the summer, but it seems as though Eddie Howe now wants his services back at St James’ Park.

When Newcastle announced the news on their official website on New Year’s Day, they stated that Dubravka will provide ‘further competition’ to the club’s number one, Nick Pope

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was snapped up on a short-term deal after the summer transfer window closed, but it’s pretty clear he won’t be extending his stay beyond January.

Dubravka only made two appearances at Manchester United, including Gary Neville labelling his most-recent performance against Burnley in the League Cup as ‘theatrical’.

Nonetheless, when it was announced that Dubravka is heading back to Champions League-chasing Newcastle United, this is what Bruno Fernandes posted on his IG story.

“Was a pleasure to meet such a good person and top professional,” wrote Manchester United’s £47m signing. “All the best for you and your family.”

NEWCASTLE UNITED’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BATTLE

Dubravka was there during the very tough times of Mike Ashley, and whilst he got a feel of change when the Saudis joined in 2021, it’s gone up a few levels now.

Despite the Magpies recording a goalless draw at home to Leeds United over the weekend, they are in the hunt for a possible Champions League finish, but they have a fight on their hands.

Fourth-placed Manchester United are breathing down their neck, whilst Liverpool have won back-to-back games since the return from the World Cup, so things could now become very, very interesting.
