According to CalcioMercatoWeb, Newcastle United are interested in a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Magpies have only just signed Alexander Isak as their club-record signing, but it seems as though they’re not done when it comes to bolstering their frontline just yet.

Of course, Newcastle know all about having a Serbian striker leading their line. Aleksandar Mitrovic was a cult hero at St James’ Park before his eventual move to Fulham, and, of course, he knows Vlahovic very well.

Mitrovic is a big fan of Vlahovic, stating during a recent international break that the Juventus forward will be the definitive striker of the next generation alongside Erling Haaland.

Mitrovic hails Vlahovic

The Fulham striker praised his international teammate back in October.

“He would certainly score even more than that at Juventus, then I don’t know if the numbers would be identical to those of Haaland, who is already 15 goals in the Premier. Dusan is a top player, young but already very strong. Haaland and Vlahovic will be the strikers of the next decade,” Mitrovic said via TuttoJuve.

Haaland lite

Vlahovic may not score at the same rate as his Norwegian counterpart, but there are certainly a lot of similarities between the pair.

As speedy, sizable and clinical number nines, Haaland and Vlahovic are certainly cut from the same cloth, and as Haaland’s lightning start at Manchester City has shown, players like this can be absolutely incredible in English football.

Alexander Isak is another player who has similar attributes, and if Newcastle can unite Vlahovic and Isak to create a strike partnership, they could be absolutely unstoppable going forwards.
