Some fans believe that Gennaro Gattuso could make Tiemoue Bakayoko his first signing at Tottenham Hotspur, if he gets the job.

Gattuso was widely expected to land the Tottenham job, after a dramatic twist in events yesterday.

Paulo Fonseca looked to be in line to become Spurs new manager, but Football London report how Tottenham did a u-turn and they are now set to land Gattuso.

Those reports have been refuted by the Athletic just moments ago though, leaving some uncertainty over who Tottenham are actually going for.

The Italian doesn’t look like the most natural fit for Spurs, with Daniel Levy promising an attacking minded coach.

Gattuso has rather made his reputation as a manager who excels in making teams hard to beat, rather than swashbuckling to watch.

Indeed, one of the key players during his managerial career has been Bakayoko.

Gattuso has signed the Chelsea man on loan twice, and reports suggested that he wanted him during his brief spell at Fiorentina.

With Tottenham potentially looking for a new central midfielder, there are many supporters who feel that a move for the 26-year-old could be likely for the North London side.

Good signing?

If Bakayoko was to move to Tottenham he would do so with a point to prove.

The French international has struggled in the Premier League after a £40 million move to Chelsea (Sky Sports).

And he would have to improve significantly if he was to prove a worthwhile addition for Spurs.
