Mehrdad Ghodoussi is becoming a very popular figure among Newcastle United supporters – and rightly so.

Ghodoussi, who co-owns Newcastle, has been rolling up his sleeves and immersing himself in the culture of the Magpies since he and wife Amanda Staveley, along with Saudi Public Investment Fund, completed their long-awaited takeover in the North East.

The British-Iranian businessman interacts with supporters on Twitter, championed to have the Alan Shearer statue moved to St James’s Park property.

And most of all, he appears to simply love Newcastle football club – both the men’s and women’s game.

Ghodoussi has already been photographed at a ladies’ match and took in another this evening as United hammered Leeds 6-2 to move top of their respective division.

Here’s what he tweeted after the game:

Wholesome

Newcastle’s last owner, Mike Ashley, barely showed an interest in anything regarding the club that he was primary custodian of.

So for Ghodoussi, one of his successors, to display interest and passion for every part of the Magpies, well no doubt that supporters of the Tyneside club will absolutely love him for that.

He and Staveley are very much royalty within Newcastle these days and it all stems from a passion which fans can easily detect to decipher whether it’s forced or genuine.

In this case, it does seem very genuine.
