Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard is producing ‘the best (football) I have seen him play’, as he told Premier League Productions (13/03/22 at 6:25 pm).

The TV pundit added that the former Real Madrid man is at the ‘top of his game’ for his Champions League-chasing Arsenal side.

On Sunday, Mikel Arteta and his players recorded a 2-0 win over Leicester City, and even though Odegaard didn’t put an assist or goal to his name, he still walked away with the Man of the Match award.

Emile Smith Rowe may well be one of Arsenal’s best players and the club’s top-scorer, but it’s the magic of Odegaard that is keeping him on the bench, as he proved once again yesterday.

During his playing days, not many moved the ball or had the quick-thinking ability of Hoddle and he is loving what he is seeing from Odegaard.

“Odegaard is now playing the best I have seen him play,” said Hoddle. “He’s actually playing how he wants to play.

“He is actually selecting (his passes). ‘I am not hitting that pass. I am going to do something special’. And he is really at the top of his game.”

Odegaard initially joined Arsenal on-loan from Real Madrid, before the 23-year-old made a permanent transfer of £30 million in the summer (Sky Sports).

It’s proving to be a masterstroke by Arteta because not a single one of his summer signing are showing signs of faltering.

Not only was Odegaard showcasing his magic yesterday, but so was Aaron Ramsdale in between the sticks.

There is something about Leicester City and the Englishman pulling off high-quality saves because he was at it again yesterday.
