Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood does not think that Tottenham Hotspur will be able to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has said on Sky Sports News (2:10pm, August 19, 2023) that Brighton will not sell Evan Ferguson to Spurs between now and the end of the window.

Sherwood believes that Brighton will keep the striker for this season and possibly sell him next summer or in a few years’ time when his value has sky-rocketed.

The Sky Sports pundit thinks that Brighton could ask for as much as £80 million for the 18-year-old Republic of Ireland international when they eventually cash in on him.

Tottenham Hotspur told Evan Ferguson won’t join them this summer

Sherwood made the comments about Ferguson when former Spurs defender Michael Dawson suggested him as a possible transfer target for Tottenham.

TEAMtalk reported last week that Tottenham want to sign Ferguson from Brighton this summer and have enquired about a potential deal for the striker.

The Seagulls do not want to sell, according to the report.

Sherwood said: “Everyone leaves Brighton for top money.

“So, if Tottenham were going to get Ferguson, which sounds like a good idea, they are not giving him away because he has not maximised where he is.

“You play this season, you get up to £80 million or wherever it is, touchwood for Brighton’s sake, and then he would be out of Tottenham’s price bracket.”

We agree with Sherwood.

We do not think that Tottenham will be able to sign Ferguson this summer.

No way.

Brighton will not sell the 18-year-old now when they can help him grow and develop and then cash in on him in two or three years’ time.

After all, Ferguson is a very promising young striker who can only get better.

The teenager has made 22 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The striker has scored seven goals and given two assists in those matches.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United star Roy Keane has tempered the hype over Yves Bissouma at the moment.

Bissouma has been superb for Tottenham in the opening two games of the new Premier League season.

The 26-year-old Mali international was one of the best players on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, as Spurs won against United.

Sky Sports pundit Keane has noted that Bissouma did not always play well last season and is waiting to see if he can maintain his form in the coming weeks.

Keane said about Bissouma on Sky Sports Premier League (8:12pm, August 19, 2023): “We saw him last year.

“In a couple of games, I did see him under the previous manager, his body language wasn’t great.

“Maybe this new manager will get the best out of him.”
