Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters after his side’s superb display away at Barcelona last night, and took time single out Moussa Sissoko for praise, labelling the Frenchman as a ‘great professional’, as quoted by Football.London.

Spurs are now safely through to the next stage of the Champions League, after last night’s draw against the La Liga giants, and not many people would have thought that was possible a couple of months ago.

Pochettino’s side have been in fine form recently, losing just one of there last 10 matches in all competitions, and they are still in contention to win all four major trophies.

A key factor behind Tottenham’s brilliant start to the campaign has been Moussa Sissoko’s superb form, and when speaking to reporters, Pochettino took time to praise the 29-year-old, as quoted by Football.London:

“I am so happy, because from the day he signed two and a half years ago he struggled to adapt at the club in the way that we wanted him to play. But in the same way I am so proud of him because he showed his a great person, a great man, a really top man and then he’s a great professional. The quality that he had he always gave 200 per cent in every single game. Sometimes he was better than others, sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but one thing we can always describe him as is honest, such an honest person and an honest player. That is a massive thing for a player that they need to play for the team and show fantastic commitment.”

With Tottenham now safely through to the next stage of the competition, all of their attention will turn back to the Premier League, and with five league games to come over the next 20 days, they have a great chance to go on a run, and close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City above them in the table.

And if they are to do just that, Sissoko will have to continue to show his very best form.
