Some West Ham fans on social media have been reacting after Jurgen Klopp namedropped the Hammers when speaking about the European Super League.

“I like the chance West Ham could play Champions League. Obviously I don’t want them to get there ahead of us but I like the idea of it,” Klopp said on Monday Night Football.

As you can imagine, these comments had West Ham fans talking.

Understandably, United supporters have a similar view to the majority of football fans in opposing the European Super League, and they love the fact that they’ve been used as an example as to why it shouldn’t happen.

Klopp is absolutely right as well, these sort of underdog stories are what makes football great, but if this competition comes around, you can kiss goodbye to that sort of thing.

Whether or not the Super League comes to fruition remains to be seen, but the Hammers are certainly a prime example as to why the idea of this sort of exclusive elite competition is a bad idea.
