There’s a very real possibility that Antonio Conte could be headed out of Tottenham Hotspur this summer as links to PSG persist and Spurs’ Champions League fate hangs in the balance.
The Italian has only been at Spurs for less than one year, but there’s already talk about his departure, and according to The Daily Mail, Spurs are already looking at potential replacements.
Graham Potter is one name that has been touted, and the current Brighton boss may jump at the opportunity to work at Spurs due to his long-standing admiration for Harry Kane.
Indeed, Potter has previously had some very good things to say about Kane.
What’s been said?
Potter was full of praise for Kane back in March.
“He’s up there. It wasn’t so long ago that he was getting criticism because he wasn’t in the box and linking up and he should be in the box more, but then actually his ability to drop deep,” Potter said.
“His ability to find [Heung-min] Son, he’s not just a goalscorer, he’s a top footballer, he’s captain of England, an inspirational figure on and off the pitch. I don’t like comparing people, he is probably the best that there is.”
Potter also waxed-lyrical about Kane after Spurs beat Brighton 2-0.
“Absolutely outstanding player,” said Potter. “His record speaks for itself. It doesn’t need me to say anything more.”
Great fit
Potter is clearly a fan of Kane, and it’s fair to say that the England captain would be a great fit for the Brighton boss’ system.
Indeed, Potter plays a very fluid style that would lend itself well to Kane’s playmaking and finishing abilities.
Brighton dominates the xG on almost a weekly basis, and if Potter had a player like Kane getting on the end of those chances rather than Neal Maupay, his teams could score bundles.
Potter and Kane could be brilliant for one another at Spurs.
