The Premier League is now five games old and whilst things are still in their early days, as clear from the fact Chelsea are currently hovering above the relegation zone, plenty of other places in the league are starting to look like the norm.

So what can we tell from the statistics after just five games?

For example, who is the best interceptor in the Premier League?

Well, when it comes to reading the game and cutting out the opposition there is one man who leads the way and he was a summer signing for Crystal Palace.

Yohan Cabaye joined his former boss Alan Pardew at Palace this summer from PSG for a fee reported by the Daily Mail to be in the region of £12.8 million.

The French international has immediately picked up where he left off after leaving the Premier League and Newcastle United, taking Palace by storm and helping them to an excellent start to the season.

There is in fact something of a French theme. Jordan Amavi, who is looking like one of the signings of the season for Aston Villa, is in third with Laurent Koscielny of Arsenal joint fifth.

Then there is Watford’s Tottenham reject Etienne Capoue. He never cut it at White Hart Lane but since switching Spurs for Hornets he has been in fine form.

His Watford team-mate Sebastian Prodl, Aston Villa captain Micah Richards and Swansea City’s Jack Cork, who comes in at second place, round up the top five.
