Tottenham Hotspur have sent Josh Onomah out on loan to Aston Villa.

Aston Villa coach and former Spurs midfielder Stephen Clemence has told Tottenham’s official website that he thinks Josh Onomah is a ‘top class player’.
Spurs have seen Harry Kane thrive in the first team having come up through the ranks in North London, and Kyle Walker-Peters and Harry Winks are both primed to be come first-team regulars in the near future.
Whilst some youngsters are hovering around Mauricio Pochettino’s first team, others have been sent out on loan for first-team experience elsewhere, with Cameron Carter-Vickers farmed out to Sheffield United.

Another player on loan in the Championship is midfielder Josh Onomah, as Spurs have sent him to Aston Villa in order to play games regularly, having been frustrated on the sidelines for much of last season.
Onomah, 20, has notched one goal in seven Championship games for Villa so far this season, offering promising, energetic displays from the middle of the park when given a chance to shine.
A couple of niggling injuries have stunted his impact somewhat, but Villa have Onomah until next summer, meaning that he has plenty of time to get fit and firing for Steve Bruce’s side.
Tottenham will be keeping tabs on Onomah’s progress this season, but former Spurs midfielder and current Villa coach Stephen Clemence has offered an update on his time at Villa Park.

Clemence has told Tottenham’s official website that Onomah has done ‘very well’ when fit, admitting that he is ‘top class’ thanks to his quality on the ball as well as his strength and dribbling ability, suggesting that a full season in the hugely-competitive Championship is exactly what he needs to aid his development.
“When he’s played, he’s done very well,” said Clemence. “You can see he’s a top class player and he’s someone who’s had my eye for a little while. He’s been a bit unfortunate with injuries where he’s had to come off in games but you can see the quality he’s got and he’s a really strong boy as well, really powerful for his age. He can go past people easily, I think he’ll admit himself that he’s still got bits to work on but he’s definitely got the right attitude and the desire to try to get there so I’ll be doing my best to try to help him become a better player this season.”
“Having a year in the Championship will definitely benefit him and I’m sure he’ll be a better, more mature player for it. I’ve experienced it myself, going from the Premier League to the Championship and you think it should be easier but the attitude, desire and commitment from teams means there are no easy games. It’s the hardest league in the world to win because of the rewards that come with it – anyone can beat anyone and that’s what Josh is experiencing right now, so it’ll be a great experience for him,” he added.
