Jose Enrique has said on Twitter that reported Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong would be a brilliant signing for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool star believes that De Jong would be top class for the Anfield outfit, but he thinks that the Barcelona midfielder would be too expensive for the Reds.
As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United are keen on signing the 25-year-old Netherlands international midfielder this summer, but there is a wage dispute going on between the former Ajax star and his current club Barcelona.
Interesting, Liverpool were linked with a move for De Jong earlier this year.
Sport reported in February 2022 that Liverpool were keen on signing De Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Unlikely transfer
In our view, Liverpool are unlikely to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Now, of course, we know that when the transfer window is open, anything is possible.
And Liverpool have an injury problem with Spanish midfielder Thiago, so the Reds could well look at signing a player in that position.
However we do not think that it will be De Jong.
As Enrique notes, the Dutchman will command a big transfer fee and will have big wages.
