Frank Lampard has acknowledged that Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is simply ‘top class’.

The spoils were shared at Goodison Park today as Everton held the Reds to a 0-0 draw during a Merseyside derby.

Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was a lot more involved than his Liverpool counterpart, with the England international producing an excellent performance to keep out a number of goal-bound efforts from the visitors.

However, Alisson also had to be alert and one point-blank save from Neal Maupay in the second half was massive.

And as much as Lampard was full of praise for his own stopper, he also admitted that the Liverpool star – a £66 million signing in 2018 – is also excellent.

He told BBC Sport: “Jordan [Pickford] gets fingertips on a few bits today which a lot of keepers don’t get and Allison the same, two top class keepers. I’ve relied on Jordan a lot he’s an amazing keeper and we’re fortunate to have a player of this level.”

Jordan Pickford v Liverpool

That’s how important it is to have a world-class figure between the sticks.

Alisson had much less to do than Pickford at the opposite end but, when called upon, he was just as decisive for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit certainly should have won, with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all hitting the woodwork, but you couldn’t deny Everton a point really, either.

One incident right at the very end summed up Pickford, when his finger-tip save to tap a Salah effort on to the post won a point for the Toffees.

It was a fantastic performance from the former Sunderland man, so much so that Alisson’s contribution probably got overshadowed, but Lampard is aware of it.
