Declan Rice labelled Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott a ‘top boy and player’, as the West Ham player posted on his Instagram story.

The Liverpool teenager suffered a worrying injury during his side’s 3-0 win at Leeds on Sunday and was sent this following message from West Ham’s Rice.

“Get well soon Harv,” Rice wrote on his Instagram story. “Top boy and player. Speed recovery.”

Liverpool’s official website posted that Elliott has been ‘discharged from hospital’ after he suffered a serious ankle injury at Elland Road.

During Jurgen Klopp’s side 3-0 win at Leeds, Elliott was unfortunate to seemingly break his ankle following a challenge from Pascal Struijk.

It was an unlucky moment for the 18-year-old because the challenge from Struijk wasn’t overly aggressive, dangerous or done with an intent to hurt the player.

Now it’s a case of a waiting game and hoping that the injury looked far worse to the naked eye than it does when his test results come back.

Elliott has been producing some outstanding performances this season and Klopp has put some serious faith in the youngster.

When a manager of Klopp’s ilk is throwing you into the deep end in games like Chelsea and away at Elland Road then you must have some serious talent in your locker.

But Elliott needs to look towards someone like Virgil van Dijk and how he bounced back after his own setback last season.

There’s no doubt that the Dutchman will offer a helping hand to Elliott and ensure, whatever the outcome, that he comes back a better and stronger player from this.
