Wins for Leicester, West Ham, Liverpool, Burnley and Hull have all made the shortlist.

The results from HITC Sport’s poll looking at the most impressive Premier League results of 2016 are in. But which victory from the calendar year was deemed to be the most impressive?

6. Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Leicester City

Leicester’s march towards the Premier League title picked up pace when they beat Tottenham 1-0 at White Hart Lane. A late Robert Huth goal gave Claudio Ranieri’s men a vital three points.

5. Hull City 2-1 Leicester City

With Leicester beginning their title defence at a newly-promoted side who had endured a quiet transfer window and did not have a permanent manager in place, it seemed that the three points were only ever going to one team. However, Hull surprised many by securing an impressive win.

4. Liverpool 3-0 Manchester City

When Manchester City travelled to Anfield in March, they were looking to keep their slim title hopes alive. However, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side tore the Citizens apart and claimed an emphatic win. Goals from Adam Lallana, James Milner and Roberto Firmino left City 10 points adrift of Leicester.

3. West Ham 3-2 Manchester United

A dramatic win over Manchester United would have been enough reason for West Ham fans to celebrate, but the fact that it came in the Hammers’ final home game at Upton Park made it all the more special. After falling 2-1 behind with 18 minutes to go, the Irons scored twice late on to secure the three points.

2. Burnley 2-1 Everton

Burnley’s win over Everton makes it into the countdown in second place. Burnley were second best for much of the contest, having fewer than half the attempts and attempts on target than their opponents had. Nevertheless, a stoppage-time goal from Scott Arfield led Sean Dyche’s men to three points.

1. Manchester City 1-3 Leicester City

If the victory over Tottenham confirmed Leicester as title contenders, it was perhaps the victory over Manchester City in February that confirmed the Foxes as title favourites. Robert Huth was the man again as he scored twice while Riyad Mahrez added another to mean that Sergio Aguero’s 87th minute goal was nothing more than a consolation.
