Leeds United could lose one player on a free, but gain another.

Leeds United are at risk of losing one key player this summer as concerns over Pablo Hernandez’s future swirl.

The Spaniard features on our list of top 50 free agents for summer 2018, coming in at number 31.

Hernandez sits below West Brom’s Chris Brunt and above QPR attacker Junior Hoilett, both who would be tremendous additions for any team this season.

A player linked with Leeds who features on the list is Sheffield Wednesday forward George Hirst, who is at number 45.

Leeds are known admirers of Hirst, with the Owls confirming last summer they rejected an offer from a ‘nearby Championship club’ for the striker, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported.

Leeds will never have a better opportunity to sign Hirst than this summer, although they will face competition from Premier League clubs.

While he will be a free agent, he won’t strictly be ‘free’.

Sheffield Wednesday will be owed compensation as he has come through their academy and is under 23, in the same way Leeds netted a fee for Charlie Taylor when he left for Burnley last summer.

If a fee cannot be agreed then it will come down to a tribunal who will set the price.
