Leeds United, Newcastle United, Huddersfield Town and Fulham all have wins included on the shortlist.
The results are in from HITC Sport’s poll looking at the most impressive Championship results of 2016. But does one of your club’s results make it into the top five?
5. Middlesbrough 1-1 Brighton

While it may be a surprise to see a draw included amongst the top five most impressive results, the stalemate between Middlesbrough and Brighton is one that will live long in the memory for every Middlesbrough fan.
Aitor Karanka’s men went into the final day of the season knowing that a win or draw against the Seagulls would be enough to see them take the second automatic-promotion spot, while defeat would hand Chris Hughton’s men the keys to the Premier League. A nervy game saw Middlesbrough just about do enough to secure second spot while Brighton had to settle for the play-offs, where they were knocked out in the semi-final.
4. Newcastle 4-3 Norwich
With 20 minutes of this clash to go back in September, Norwich were seemingly cruising to three points and the top of the Championship as they boasted a 3-1 lead over the Magpies. However, Newcastle produced a stunning fightback.
Dwight Gayle handed the home side a lifeline heading into the final 20 minutes, but with 95 minutes on the clock it still appeared that a defeat was imminent. However, Yoan Gouffran equalised before Gayle added the winner in the 96th minute.
3. Fulham 5-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield had been the surprise name amongst the early pace-setters when they travelled to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in October. However, Fulham turned the formbook on its head with a sensational win. First-half goals from Chris Martin, Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon put the game beyond doubt before the break before Martin and Kevin McDonald completed the rout. The victory helped spark a much improved run that has taken the Cottagers into play-off contention.
2. Norwich 2-3 Leeds United
After a revival following a slow start to the season, it was Leeds’ win over Norwich that really established Garry Monk’s men as genuine play-off contenders. The Whites had come from behind to lead 2-1 late on, but it still looked like they may be forced to hold on as the Canaries secured an 88th minute equaliser. However, it was Leeds who took the spoils as Ronaldo Vieira’s long-range strike settled a blistering game at Carrow Road.

Despite slipping up on the opening day, few expected Newcastle United to do anything other than bag a comfortable win against Huddersfield Town at St James’ Park. And despite Huddersfield taking a surprise lead in first-half stoppage-time, it still appeared that Newcastle were well on course for the three points when Dwight Gayle equalised on the hour-mark. However, David Wagner’s men had another surprise up their sleeve as Jack Payne scored with eight minutes to go to leave Newcastle pointless from their first two games.
It was the result that really fired up Huddersfield’s season, and sees them still very much in the playoff positions. If the unthinkable happened, and the Terriers went up, this could be the result that really got them believing.
