Shakhtar Donetsk duo Mykhaylo Mudryk and Mykola Matviyenko would struggle at Arsenal were both players to end up at the Premier League giants, former Ukraine manager Yozhef Sabo tells Fan Day.
It reports are to be believed, Shakhtar want a minimum of £50 million for Mudryk; one of this season’s breakthrough stars and a player with a growing throng of admirers on all corners of the continent.
Sabo, however, feels that the winger’s price-tag has been dramatically over-inflated. And despite contributing six assists and two goals in just eight games this season – while dazzling in the Champions League group-stages – a man who coached Ukraine between 1994 and 1999 wonders if arguably the most exciting attacking talent in Eastern Europe could make the same impact on English shores.
“Mudryk is worth somewhere around 15 million euros,” Sabo adds, comparing Shakhtar’s fleet-footed forward with compatriot Andriy Yarmolenko.
“The example of Yarmolenko immediately pops up before my eyes. We thought that he was the best, but he disappeared after leaving Dynamo Kiev. The English Premier League will be too tough for him. I think it’s best to go to Spain.”

Per i News, Newcastle United are weighing up a big-money January move for Mudryk; dubbed the third-best left-winger on the continent behind only Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. Everton submitted a £25 million bid in August, while the player himself has spoken openly about his desire to join Arsenal.
Shakhtar and Ukraine team-mate Matviyenko has also been linked with Mikel Arteta’s Premier League pacesetters. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are fans of the commanding, left-footed central defender. He could potentially act as competition for Gabriel Magalhaes, with Corinthians’ Robert Renan another option.
“No one will pay 11 million euros for Matviyenko,” Sabo claims. “He’s not as great a defender as you think. I consider him a simple footballer, who does not show anything supernatural. If they offer 7 or 8 million euros for him, then Shakhtar should rejoice.
“Arsenal? No, he doesn’t have to go to England. I would advise him to go to Spain, Holland or Belgium.”
19-year-old Renan, per Goal, is reportedly in talks to join Arsenal.
