Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips and West Ham’s Declan Rice were just some of the players on Instagram to heap praise on Aston Villa’s thriving star Jack Grealish.

On Sunday, Villa’s playmaker started his first competitive game for England, and despite the defeat to Belgium, he wowed the supporters with his performance.

For months now, there has been an outcry to start the boyhood Villa fan for his country, and despite all the pressure on his shoulders, when he was handed that competitive start, he impressed.

When Grealish posted a message on Instagram about his recent experience, a number of players were quick to laud the player.

Leeds’ very own boyhood fan Phillips wrote: ‘Some player man’. Whilst Rice, who started alongside Grealish in Belgium, added: ‘Too sick’.

Wycombe forward Adebayo Akinfenwa also commented by saying: ‘You was doing major bits’. As Matt Targett, who watches his performance week in and week out in training wrote: ‘Serious baller’.

It seems as though whenever Grealish takes to the field he has something to prove and it that cloud over his head helps him in his game.

Grealish has been outstanding for Villa this term and if he continues in his ways then it will be to a huge boost for both club and country because of how influential he can be when at the top of his game.

Now it’s a case of Gareth Southgate changing formation to make England more vibrant going forward and bringing the best out of the likes of Grealish in a more attack-minded formation.
