Speaking on the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel, Neal Maupay has been talking about Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Frenchman was asked which defender is the toughest he’s ever played against, and perhaps unsurprisingly, he said van Dijk.
The Dutchman is truly one of Europe’s top centre-backs, and Maupay says that he’s literally too good physically.
Indeed, Maupay says that van Dijk is too strong, too big and too fast to compete with.
What’s been said?
Maupay was full of praise for van Dijk.
“Van Dijk probably, I don’t know, the man is just too strong, too rapid, too tall, too everything. But this season when we played Man City, I had a very tough game against Dias,” Maupay said.

The total package
Maupay is absolutely right about van Dijk, he’s the complete package at the back for Liverpool.
He’s got the height, the pace and the strength to completely outdo any player physically, and when you factor in his reading of the game and his ability on the ball, you have a player who it’s virtually impossible to get the better of.
Van Dijk is a former PFA Player of the Year winner for a reason, and we certainly don’t envy strikers like Maupay who have to go against him.
