Jose Mourinho has told talkSPORT (07/07/21 at 10:55 pm) that Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, was ‘too nervous’ for England last night.
Gareth Southgate’s side booked their place in the final of Euro 2020 by beating Denmark 2-1 after extra time.
It was the first time during the tournament that Everton’s shot-stopper conceded a goal, but during that first-half period, he did showcase a few wobbly moments.
Mourinho thinks, apart from Pickford ‘lack of concentration’ moments, the England players remained calm and composed during such a highly pressured environment.
“I think a part of Pickford, here and there, showed a little lack of concentration,” said Mourinho. “Or too nervous, or he was trying to do things too fast.
“I saw the mistake arriving. Apart from that, I didn’t see one single player that didn’t play well or very well.
“Everybody was really performing at the high level, so they showed that they can cope with it.”

Pickford did end last season in a pretty strong fashion, but Everton fans must wonder about his England performances.
For years and years now, on the international stage only, Pickford has been one of the top keepers in the world.
And he has proven that at the 2018 World Cup and here during Euro 2020.
But Toffees supporters must surely crave those types of performances on a more consistent basis when he’s on the domestic scene.
