Speaking to UMM’s YouTube Channel, Jack Grealish has lavished praise upon Virgil van Dijk, proclaiming him to be the best centre-half.
The Aston Villa star was asked whether or not he has the recording of him nutmegging van Dijk in Villa’s win over Liverpool earlier this season, and the midfielder said he doesn’t have it because he has too much respect for the Dutchman.
“Nah. You know why, because I’ve just got to put too much respect on his name because he’s the best centre-half and I couldn’t even try to mug him like that, because if I went one on one against him,” Grealish said.
Grealish isn’t a fool.
The Aston Villa ace knows that van Dijk is a special player, and even though he did get the better of him earlier this season, he’s not willing to even begin to doubt his ability.
Whether or not van Dijk is the best centre-half in the world is up for debate, but Grealish has played against, and got the better of, a lot of defenders in his time, so he knows a top-class centre-back when he sees one.
With Liverpool struggling on the pitch at the moment, this praise for the injured Reds star serves as an important reminder of the better times ahead at Anfield.
