Chris Sutton thinks Bournemouth possibly appointing Leeds United fan favourite Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager is ‘too much of a risk’.
The 67-year-old is out-of-work after being sacked by Leeds back in February, but he could be back in a Premier League dugout by the time players return from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Gary O’Neil has been the man steering Bournemouth’s ship on the South Coast after they parted ways with Scott Parker back in August.
He has them 14th in the Premier League table with domestic football now halted and the club looking for a permeant boss.
Everyone knows what Bielsa brings to the table, utter chaos, entertainment and teams punching above their weight, despite that, Sutton doesn’t think Bournemouth should look to appoint him, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
“As a whole, why change something,” asked Sutton. “We all know if Bielsa comes in, with this group of players, then I assume, he’s going to play the Bielsa brand of football.
“Will these players be able to adapt and stay in the Premier League? So, if the goal is just about staying in the Premier League, then Gary O’Neil is the man and Bielsa is too much of a risk.”

A number of weeks ago, when Leeds were struggling to even pick up a win, the Elland Road faithful were singing Marcelo Bielsa’s name.
They would have happily taken their promotion-winning manager back on board given what he had done for the club and where they were seemingly heading under Jesse Marsch.
For Bournemouth, if the opportunity arises to bring a man of Bielsa’s ilk to the club, then they simply can’t turn it down.
