Well, Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has been linked with a shock move to Italy.
And no, it isn’t to Milan.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Serie A outfit Cagliari are interested in signing the out-of-favour Tottenham left-back.
Rose spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho following Mauricio Pochettino’s dismissal.
The England international has been linked to AC Milan or Inter Milan in the past, as revealed by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy during the All or Nothing documentary on Amazon.
Rose joined the North Londoners from Leeds United for £1 million back in 2007, and here’s how Lilywhites fans reacted to the prospect of losing him to Cagliari.
If this is true, it sort of illustrates the 30-year-old’s decline over the past year or two.
Cagliari finished 14th in Serie A last term and, on the surface, it would seem like Rose is too high-profile to join them.
But if Newcastle don’t want him back, and Mourinho has no plan for him, then the Doncaster-born star is running out of options it would seem.
