Stan Collymore has suggested in The Mirror that Leeds United need to sign quality players in the summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker believes that Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa needs to bring in proven Premier League quality players to survive in the top flight of English football next season.

The West Yorkshire outfit have won the Championship title this season and have clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League for the 2020-21 campaign.

Collymore wrote in The Mirror: “Marcelo Bielsa will talk to Leeds this week about his future, bossing United in the Premier League and what they need to build on a fantastic season.

“Bielsa needs a decent budget. He has to add proven Premier League quality to a fantastic youthful base.

“Too many clubs come up pinning their hopes on young hopefuls or imports from abroad, instead of going for 3-4 experienced battle hardened top flight campaigners.”

Need to sign players?

Bielsa has improved a lot of players at Leeds over the past two seasons, and one suspects that the Argentine will be doing the same in 2020-21.

However, there is no doubt that the Whites need to make additions to the team and bring in some quality players.

Leeds need a big and strong squad to cope with the rigours of the Premier League next season, and if they make a few additions in certain areas, then they should escape the drop back to the Championship with ease.

However, it is hard to see Leeds splash the cash and make wholesome changes to the current squad.
