Nathan Baker has joined Bristol City from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa chairman Tony Xia has suggested on social networking site Twitter that the club were right to sell Nathan Baker to Championship rivals Bristol City in the summer transfer window.
Baker completed his move from Villa from City last week, ending his 13-year association with the Villans in the process.
The 26-year-old defender, who can operate as a centre-back or as a left-back, made over 100 appearances for the Villa first team.
The former England Under-21 international established himself as a first-team regular last season, and he also has experience of playing for the Villans in the Premier League.
Villa chairman Xia has responded on Twitter when asked about the club’s decision to sell the defender to Championship rivals City this summer.
Villa endured a disappointing season in 2016-17, and they will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship during the 2017-18 campaign.
Steve Bruce’s side have made a number of signings in the summer transfer window so far, bringing in John Terry and Glenn Whelan among other players.
