Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth has been linked with Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa chairman Tony Xia has suggested on social networking site Twitter that there is no interest from the club in Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth.

The 26-year-old central defender has been linked with a move from Wolves to Championship rivals Villa in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail reported at the weekend that Villa are interested in Batth, but the Villans’ chairman Xia has dismissed the speculation on Twitter.

Xia’s response to speculation regarding Batth could be positive for Sheffield Wednesday, who are interested in the defender, according to The Daily Mail.

The report has also credited Hull City with interest in the Wolves man as well, and given Xia’s comment, it seems that the Owls have just one competitor for the defender’s signature.

Wednesday are a big club, and the Championship outfit could consider themselves unlucky not to be in the Premier League already given their performances and results over the past two seasons.

Given the Owls’ ambitions and their achievements over the past two or so years, they could be able to convince Batth to join them instead of Hull.
