Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing defender John Terry.

Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter in order to respond to fans asking about the club’s interest in signing John Terry.
Terry, 36, brought his Chelsea career to an end last month as he played his final game for the club in the win over Sunderland on the final day of the Premier League season.

The centre back leaves Stamford Bridge having racked up more than 700 appearances for the Blues, whilst winning five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.
Terry will now be free to move on this summer after a 22-year association with Chelsea, and he may end up dropping down into the Championship next season.

The Sun report that Terry may be closing in on a move to Aston Villa given that he is heavily considering a £60,000-a-week contract offer from Steve Bruce’s men.
Bruce does have James Chester and Nathan Baker at his disposal, but landing Terry on a free transfer would be a major coup for Villa, providing them with an experienced leader who has become accustomed to winning over the course of his career.

Villa won’t be drawn on rumours though, as one fan asked owner Tony Xia about the situation on Twitter, in the hope of finding out just whether Terry will be turning out at Villa Park next season.
Xia responded by quoting Terry’s former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, stating that he won’t be commenting on the defender until his contract with the Blues officially ends on July 1st – but it certainly seems that Villa are pushing to land Terry this summer.
