Bruce has done quite well at Villa, who are back in the frame for the Championship playoffs.

The Villans are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

The team struggled for points in the opening weeks of the season under Di Matteo, but performances and the results have improved under Bruce.

Villa are 11th in the Championship table at the moment with 25 points from 18 matches.

Bruce’s side are four points behind Huddersfield Town, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

The Villans returned to winning ways in the Championship at the weekend, getting the better of Cardiff City 3-1 at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Villa will return to action next weekend when they take on fellow promotion hopefuls Leeds United away from home at Elland Road in the Championship.
