Aston Villa’s enigmatic chairman Tony Xia has attempted to explain on Twitter why the club would not be allowing a fan poll help decide the club’s next manager.
Villa moved on Roberto Di Matteo this week, after a poor start to the Championship season under the Italian.
The club are currently 19th in the table with just one win from their opening 11 games and the Chinese businessman, who took over from Randy Lerner in the summer, decided a change of managers was needed at Villa Park.

In the summer Xia made headlines by suggesting that fans should have their views appreciated when it comes to signing players for the club.
But when it comes to appointing a manager, it appears he does not share the same view.

He sent this tweet yesterday to a fan who suggested a shortlist should be drawn up and the Villa fans then vote for the new boss:
Aston Villa have been linked with plenty of potential new managers – including the likes of Steve Bruce and current caretaker Steve Clarke.
