Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to comment on Jordan Amavi’s future.
Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to respond to rumours surrounding the future of left back Jordan Amavi – and predicted that he will become a ‘great star’ with the club.
Amavi, 22, joined Villa back in the summer of 2015 having impressed with Nice in his native France, but played just 12 times last season as a devastating knee injury ruled him out from November until the end of the season.

Now, Amavi is back to full fitness, and has made 17 appearances for Villa having established himself as the club’s first-choice left back ahead of compatriot Aly Cissokho – but he appears to be attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window.
French media outlet La Provence recently claimed that Everton and Marseille are both keen to sign Amavi, before SFR Sport reported that Bordeaux want to take Amavi back to France as a possible replacement for Maxime Poundje.

Villa won’t want to lose a talented young player like Amavi, especially considering that they spent £9m (Daily Mail) on him around 18 months ago.
The rumours have caught the attention of Villa fans, with some asking owner Tony Xia whether there is any truth to the speculation that Amavi could be leaving Villa Park next month, as Villa must keep their best players at Villa Park.
Xia responded by saying that he isn’t worried about the rumours, before predicting that Amavi will go on to become a ‘great star’ at Villa, and help the club return to the top of the game.
Villa fans will be pleased with Xia’s response, but will have to prove himself to be as good as his word, as Villa supporters will be even more annoyed if Amavi does leave after Xia shot down the rumours so bluntly.
