Aston Villa drew 2-2 at home with Preston North End this afternoon.

Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter this evening to give his reaction to this afternoon’s 2-2 home draw with Preston North End.

Villa went into the game ten points off the play-offs having lost 1-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, and desperately needed a response as they took on Preston at Villa Park this afternoon.

It all started so well for Villa; Albert Adomah poked the ball home from close range after Gabriel Agbonlahor had stabbed the ball past Chris Maxwell, and Villa made it 2-0 when Adomah was brought down by Aiden McGeady inside the area, and the Ghanaian stepped up to score the resulting penalty.

However, Steve Bruce’s men capitulated in the second half, first allowing Jordan Hugill to cut in from the left hand side to smash into the top corner, before Hugill grabbed the equaliser by heading home McGeady’s cross.

Blowing a 2-0 half-time lead at home was a major blow for Villa, and they remain rooted in mid-table with no win in the last four Championship games.

The game also saw Henri Lansbury make his Villa debut having joined from Nottingham Forest on Friday, but the midfielder was unable to help Villa towards a win in his first appearance for the club.

After the final whistle, Villa owner Tony Xia took to Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat, and his message summed up how most Villa supporters will feel this evening.

Xia suggested the first half was ‘the best’, yet the second half was ‘the worst’, adding that he was hurting after dropping two points.
