Aston Villa are having a busy few days in the transfer market.
Aston Villa chairman Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to hint that another new signing is about to be announced.
Villa were busy on Wednesday, bringing in defender James Bree from Barnsley and midfielder Birkir Bjarnason from FC Basel.
But it does not seem to be the last of Villa’s January business, with Xia taking to social media on Thursday morning to write the following message:
“98% to 100% – Aston Villa to announce shortly.”
There are a few possible players who could arrive, with Conor Hourihane widely expected to sign for Villa before the end of the month. But whoever it is, it is clear Xia and his manager Steve Bruce are not wasting any time significantly strengthening their options for the rest of the campaign.
Villa were expected to challenge for promotion this season and while things have not gone according to plan thus far, they look to be bringing in the players that could help them considerably not just for the rest of this campaign but also for years to come.
