Tony Xia confirms how long John Terry will be missing for Aston Villa

Aston Villa defender John Terry has broken a bone in his foot, in a huge blow for Steve Bruce’s side.

Tony Xia has confirmed on Twitter that Aston Villa centre-back John Terry could be out for as long as 10 weeks.

Terry limped off during Villa’s match against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, after lunging into a challenge.

Scans later detected the the 36-year-old centre-back had broken a metatarsal.

And Xia has confirmed on social media this morning that Terry is now facing a lengthy absence.

Terry’s absence for Villa is a huge blow, as the veteran had been one of their star players over recent weeks.

The Chelsea legend had formed a rock solid partnership with James Chester, which had seen Villa keep seven clean sheets in 10 matches.

The claret and blues’ defensive strength had seen them win seven of their last eight matches, but Steve Bruce’s side came unstuck against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.

Villa were beaten 2-1 by the Owls, but they remain in fifth place in the Championship table.
