Di Matteo is a good manager, but he did not do well at Villa at all.

Villa, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, are 19th in the Championship table at the moment with just 10 points from 11 matches.

The Villans are only two points above the relegation zone and are in danger of going down to League One at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Di Matteo had to go, as it was clear that performances and results were not going to improve under him anytime soon.

Villa will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park in the Championship after the international break.
