Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to shoot down a possible move for West Ham striker Enner Valencia in comically brutal fashion.

Villa are searching for a new striker before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, and a host of candidates have been linked with moves to Villa Park, with pace seemingly on Roberto Di Matteo’s agenda.

Earlier this week, The Telegraph reported that Villa were keen to snap up West Ham United striker Enner Valencia, but had seen a bid rejected for the player.

Valencia, 26, hit the headlines at the 2014 World Cup by scoring all three of Ecuador’s goals in Brazil, impressing with his pace, work rate and his surprising aerial ability.

West Ham swooped in to lure Valencia from Mexican side Pachuca, and he arrived with his expectations off the back of his World Cup performances – but he hasn’t really lived up to his billing so far.

After just ten goals in 66 games, Valencia’s future under Slaven Bilic is up in the air, and with Simone Zaza snapped up on loan from Juventus, Valencia could be sacrificed before the transfer winow shuts.

With Villa allegedly keen, fans have been taking to Twitter to talk about the situation – and club owner Tony Xia shot down the suggestions in brutal fashion.

Xia responded to a fan poll on possibly signing Valencia by saying that there is no way the striker will be joining Villa, because he watched Valencia play three times and called a stop to any interest in the player; quite remarkable comments from the club’s owner.
