Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has taken to Twitter to react to the side’s 1-1 home draw with Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
With five draws in six games heading into Saturday’s fixture, Villa were really looking for a victory over their fellow recently-relegated rivals, but they got yet another draw.
Roberto Di Matteo’s side went behind as defender Tommy Elphick turned the ball into his own net from a DeAndre Yedlin cross on 28 minutes.

Newcastle dominated much of the game, but wasted chances to seal the win, and were hit with a sucker punch as midfielder Aaron Tshibola headed home in the 88th minute to grab a point for Villa.
Villa fans are understandably frustrated with the start to the season, having won just once, but the flip side of that is that Di Matteo’s men have only just twice in the first nine games.

Reports from The Mirror suggest that Di Matteo is already in trouble after a slow start, whilst The Sun claim that Steve Bruce is keen on the job despite having previously managed local rivals Birmingham City.
After the game against Newcastle, the club’s owner Tony Xia took to Twitter to offer his view on the draw amid those rumours surrounding Di Matteo’s future.

Xia claims that he was happy to see the players fighting throughout the game whilst playing as a team, and made a bold claim by stating that those players, who have won just once this season, are ‘top class’ in the Championship – and reinforced that there is no problem with the mentality of the squad.
