Former Nottingham Forest hero Tony Woodcock has been speaking to Reuters this week about his fears regarding his former club.

Forest are fighting to stay in the Championship and have been struggling under the ownership of Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz Al Hasawi.

After the appointment of the club’s first foreign manager at the start of the season in Philippe Montanier there was hope around the club, but he was sacked after poor form and former Rangers boss Mark Warburton is now charged with keeping the club in the second tier of English football.

But the turmoil off the pitch has not helped and Woodcock, who won the European Cup with Forest in 1979 and spent six years at the club, believes even Jose Mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti would struggle to find success at Forest currently:

“It’s not a good sign for any business.

“Looking from the outside there is no stability. There are so many questions. Is the owner selling? Is he staying? For a club to have nine or 10 managers something is not right. You could hire Jose Mourinho or Ancelotti but even they would struggle if the other components are not working.”

Under the current regime Forest have been in transfer embargoes, gone through several managers, lost key players and seen potential takeovers collapse.

Warburton has a massive job on his hands settling the club and trying to steer them away from the bottom three.
