Tony Watt praises former Celtic mate and Saturday’s hat-trick hero James Forrest on Twitter.

According to former Celtic star Tony Watt, James Forrest is the best player in Scotland “by a mile” this season.
The 26-year-old winger enhanced his reputation with a hat-trick in Saturday’s nervy 3-2 Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle at Parkhead.
In doing so, the Celtic ace took his tally for the season to 16 in all competitions and has already obliterated his previous best haul of nine goals in the 2011-12 campaign.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has done wonders for Forrest and, truthfully, the phrase involving the words ‘leaps and bounds’ just doesn’t cut it in this case.
And Watt, who played with him in Glasgow for three years until 2014, says that his former team-mate deserves to scoop the Scottish Player of the Year award this season.

Forrest has been nothing short of outstanding this season but it will be interesting to see how effective he is on Thursday when Zenit St Petersburg visit Parkhead.
Roberto Mancini’s side face Celtic in the last 32 of the Europa League and another stellar performance next week will only reiterate the belief that Forrest is indeed the real deal.
