Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon was in action for Brendan Rodgers’s side on Thursday.

Craig Gordon of Celtic arrives prior to the UEFA Europa League Group B match between Celtic and RB Leipzig at Celtic Park on November 8, 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Tony Watt has defended Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon on Twitter following the match against RB Salzburg on Thursday evening.

Celtic suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Salzburg at Celtic Park in the Europa League Group B.

Gordon was responsible for the visiting team’s opening goal midway trough the second half, as the Scotland international made a horrible mistake.

Despite the loss, Brendan Rodgers’s side have progressed to the knockout rounds of the Europa League as Group B runners-up.

St Johnstone forward Watt was following the match, and the 24-year-old forward – who was on the books of Celtic from 2011 until 2014 – has praised Gordon on Twitter despite his error.

Reliable goalkeeper

Gordon is prone to making errors, but goalkeepers do make mistakes and are allowed to do so, just like strikers, defenders and midfielders are.

However, it is clear that the former Sunderland goalkeeper needs to cut out the mistakes in his game, as he remains a key and reliable figure in the Celtic team.
