Celtic youngster Johnston scored an excellent goal for Scotland’s Under-21 side on Wednesday.
Highly-rated Celtic winger Michael Johnston scored an excellent solo goal during Scotland Under-21’s semi-final loss to England on Wednesday at the Toulon Tournament – prompting Hoops fans and ex-striker Tony Watt to react on Twitter.
Scotland played against England’s Under-21 side in the semi-final of the competition, but England progressed thanks to a brace from Arsenal man Eddie Nketiah while Everton’s Callum Connolly also netted.
But 19-year-old Johnston put Celtic into the lead, scoring an excellent goal after a solo run that saw him take on multiple England players from inside his own half before firing the ball into the top corner with his left foot.
Fan Twitter account Stand Up For Celtic posted a video of the goal on their Twitter account, as Johnstone weaved in an out of the England side to score.
The Celtic academy product has enjoyed a largely successful season, after making his debut in May 2017 under Brendan Rodgers. He went on to make another three senior appearances in 17-18, as well as breaking into Scotland’s Under-21 team.
Celtic fans reacted to Johnstone’s goal, as did former striker and Barcelona hero Tony Watt, who posted “go on lad” before mentioning Johnston in his Tweet.
