Tony Pulis has suggested that he did not like seeing Ben Foster head up for a late corner during West Brom’s defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, but also absolved the goalkeeper of any blame, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The Baggies went into the dying minutes of their game at the Hawthorns 1-0 down thanks to a goal from Roberto Firmino during the latter stages of the first-half.
And as the home side chased an equaliser, Foster, as so many goalkeepers do in those situations, headed up the pitch to try and offer a different option in attack. But Pulis explained after the defeat that the stopper went up for the corner without his blessing.
“I’ve just had a chat with him,” he said, as reported by the Mail.
“I don’t like goalkeepers going up for corners personally, but I’ve never said it to Ben, so he doesn’t know.

“He does now.”
While Pulis did not approve of Foster’s decision, there would have surely been few West Brom supporters who would have been annoyed when they saw the goalkeeper head up for the corner as it highlighted that the Baggies were not accepting defeat and were even willing to lose 2-0 if it gave them a better chance of finding an equaliser.
And with West Brom’s form starting to tail off – they have lost their last three games – it may actually be Pulis’ comments that annoy the supporters more, as they hint at the opposite, that he would rather accept a 1-0 defeat than roll the dice and potentially come out of the game with a heavier loss.
