Nottingham Forest have been linked with Adam Clayton of Middlesbrough in the January transfer window.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has told the club’s official website that there has been no approach for Adam Clayton from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.

According to The Sun (print edition, page 54, Thursday, January 18, 2018), Forest have made an offer of £2 million for the former Leeds United midfielder (click here to read more).

Pulis has stated that Boro have received no bids from Forest, and told the club’s official website: “If Aitor was going to take Clayts (Adam Clayton) or anyone, I think he’d give me a ring or the club a ring, and I don’t think the club have received any phone calls off Forest for Clayton at this present moment.”

Clayton has been on the books of Middlesbrough since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Huddersfield Town for an initial transfer fee reported by The Northern Echo to be worth £1.5 million.

The former Manchester City prospect is one of the best players in the Championship and worked with Karanka when the Spaniard was in charge of Boro.

Forest, though, are not the only who are reported to be interested in Clayton. According to The Northern Echo, Aston Villa, Leeds and Cardiff all are interested in the 29-year-old midfielder.

Both Boro and Forest are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
