Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has been quoted as saying by the club’s official Twitter page that a bid for defender Jonny Evans has been turned down.

Pulis wants the former Manchester United defender to remain at The Hawthorns, but he has suggested that the stance could change if a big offer comes in.

Manchester City are interested in Evans, but they will have to pay as much as £35 million, according to The Sun.

It has been reported that City’s initial offer of £18m plus extras that would have taken it to £22m was not enough for West Brom.

Evans is a very good defender and is a key player for the Baggies, and the former Manchester United star would be a good signing for City.

The 29-year-old is solid at the back, knows what he is doing, is experienced and mature, and is decent with the ball.

The Northern Ireland international might not be able to slot straight into the City starting lineup, but the defender would be a good back-up option and would add depth to Pep Guardiola’s side.

City are a rich club, and if they are intent on securing the services of Evans, then they should not hesitate to splash the cash and sign the defender in the summer transfer window.
