Tony Pulis has praised West Bromwich Albion star Salomon Rondon for his current run of form, but has also issued a warning to the Venezuelan, the Express and Star reports.

The 27-year-old has made a promising start to the season, scoring three times in the top flight, including two in his last three games.

But while Pulis has lauded Rondon’s recent performances, he has suggested that he cannot now rest on his laurels.

“His form now is fantastic and long may it continue,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star. “But he has to work hard.

“You can’t relax in this league – it’s non-stop pressure every step of the way.

“If he takes his foot off the pedal it will fall away.”

While ninth place after seven games was perhaps a better performance than most Baggies fans would have been expecting based on what was going on at the Hawthorns at the beginning of the campaign – Pulis was linked with a dramatic exit in the wake of the transfer window’s closure (via Express and Star) – they are arguably still in desperate need for Rondon to keep performing.

The side have scored just eight times in those seven games, and four of which came in one fixture. And with Rondon being one of just three senior strikers in the squad, if he went off the boil, the team would surely be in trouble, as Hal Robson-Kanu still awaits his first start while Saido Berahino has failed to score in any of his five appearances this term.
