West Bromwich Albion fans expect their club to make some top quality signings this month.
When speaking to reporters, Baggies boss Tony Pulis offered an explanation as to why his club are finding it so hard to get deals over the line for many of their primary transfer targets, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
West Brom’s struggles in the transfer market are becoming a recurring theme, after similar problems in the summer left Pulis with an unbalanced and underprepared squad, as they headed into the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
They have, however, performed admirably so far this term, and currently sit in eighth position in the table.

There is a case to be made that they are in a false position though, and if they are to maintain their lofty spot in the table, they must surely make some quality additions to their squad this month.
They have already missed out on Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton and Jose Fonte to West Ham United, and Pulis cited the reputation within the game of those respective clubs as a main reason why his Baggies side missed out on signing the aforementioned players, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis
“We’re trying to improve the football club, improve the full structure of the football club. You look at West Ham and Everton, they’ve been above us (in the pecking order), you look at their stadiums. They’ve got the structure and more than what we’ve got at the moment. But if we can maintain the good form and have a good finish to the season, it gives you more of an opportunity and a chance of getting these players to look at West Brom. And that’s what we want to try and do.”
If Pulis can guide his side to a top eight finish, it will not only be a fantastic achievement, but the perfect stepping stone from which the club can build from, and hopefully then, they will stand a better chance of signing the players that they want and need.
