Tony Pulis worked with Serge Gnabry during his now-infamous spell at West Bromwich Albion in 2015. Fast forward to last night and he has just netted a remarkable four goals against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

Tony Pulis has admitted that he has been left ‘amazed’ at Serge Gnabry scoring four goals against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League last night.

The ex-Arsenal man helped Bayern Munich humiliate Spurs 7-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Gnabry now answering those who may have once questioned him during the early stages of his career.

Four years ago, Gnabry, who was with Arsenal at the time, went out on-loan to Pulis’ West Brom, but he only managed one game under the Welshman.

Since then it has been quite a turnaround from the German, with Pulis stating that ‘you can knock me over with a feather’ as he reacted to his stunning display in the capital.

“Well, I am amazed,” Pulis told Sky Sports Football. “We had him at West Brom, we took him on-loan and we could never get him fit. He even got taken off in an under-21 game. He went back to Arsenal and they sold him on.

“He was a good kid. Nice kid. I didn’t mind him at all. He’s fulfilled his potential, you can knock me over with a feather. Having worked with him at West Brom and seeing him there. What he has done is absolutely amazing.

“When people show what they can really do and really knuckle down and become so good as he has done. It’s absolutely fantastic. The kid has done fantastic.”

Ahead of the game on Tuesday, Gnabry shared that Pulis felt he ‘wasn’t Premier League level’ [The Times], as the German has answered his critics in an emphatic fashion.

Since leaving Arsenal, Gnabry has been on the rise from his stunning performances for Werder Bremen and Bayern to now being a key figure for the German national team.

Tottenham will next come up against Gnabry in December, as Spurs’ season has hit the rocks and questions are being asked of the players and the manager.
